Changes to Utility Coverage – August 2025

Effective Thursday, September 18, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. Pacific Time (PT), UtilityAPI will remove 23 utilities from our platform.

Overview

As part of our efforts to routinely optimize our utility coverage to focus on our direct utility connection strategy, and better serving our core markets — with improved reliability, speed, data accuracy, and support, effective Thursday, September 18, 2025, the following 19 utilities will be removed from our platform.

This article outlines the details of this change, what it means for you, and how to prepare.


Impacted Utilities

The following utilities are being removed from our utility coverage:

  • AEP Ohio

  • Ameren

  • ComEd

  • Duke

  • FPL

  • GAPower

  • HECO

  • JCPL

  • NVE

  • NYSEG

  • ORU

  • PECO

  • PSEG

  • PSEGLI

  • SMT

  • SMUD

  • SRP

  • TEP

  • Xcel

Key Dates and Changes

August 28, 2025 – Step 1

Jersey Central Power & Light (JCPL), New York State Electric and Gas (NYSEG), Orange & Rockland Utilities (ORU), PSEG Long Island, Smart Meter Texas (SMT), and Salt River Project (SRP) are being removed from:

    • the customer utility dropdown on the data request page;
    • Your account’s authorization form;

    • the API docs.

This means the following:

  • No new authorizations or reauthorizations can be created for these utilities, 
  • All data collection from these utilities will stop

  • Any meters enrolled in Ongoing Monitoring will be automatically unenrolled. 

  • Support will not be provided for any authorizations associated with these utilities. 

Already collected data will remain available for download through Thursday, September 18.


September 5, 2025 - Step 2

AEP Ohio, Ameren, ComEd, Duke, Florida Power and Light (FPL), Georgia Power, Hawaiian Electric Company (HECO), Nevada Energy (NVE), PECO, PSEG, SMUD, Tucson Electric Power (TEP), and Xcel Energy will be removed from: 

    • the customer utilty dropdown on the data request page.
    • Your account’s authorization form;
    • the API docs.

Through September 5, new authorizations and reauthorizations can be completed for these utilities. 

After September 5 

  • No new authorizations or reauthorizations will be created for these utilities, 
  • All data collection from these utilities will stop;

  • Any meters enrolled in Ongoing Monitoring will be automatically unenrolled.  

Already collected data will remain available for download through Thursday, September 18.

September 19 - Step 3

 On Friday, September 19, 2025, all the utilities mentioned above will begin to be fully deprecated, which means all authorizations and data will be removed from the platform.  

What You Need to Do

  • Download any necessary data from affected utilities before it is permanently removed.

  • Review your current meters and authorizations and archive any that are no longer needed.

  • Visit our Coverage Page to view active vs. inactive utility support.
