When authorizing data for Fort Collins Utilities customers, there are a few unique aspects to note. However, the process still includes the same fast interval data collection and download capabilities through your UtilityAPI dashboard and API as always.
Here’s what’s different:
- It’s Free: No charge to download data from Fort Collins Utilities customers.
- No Login Credentials Required: The account holder can search for their utility account using various methods, including linked phone number, address, or email, instead of requiring login credentials.
- Meter Activation: After authorization, meters will appear in your UtilityAPI dashboard. You can activate them to begin collecting usage data just like you normally would, with data available for download via your dashboard or API.
1. Request data from customer
Request data from your customer via your UtilityAPI portal. When you're logged in, click on "Request Data" to get started. You can send a data request directly from our platform by filling out the form, or use your unique link in an existing email chain with a customer. Your link will have your name and company name (both from your email address), so your customer will know it's coming from you.

2. Customer authorizes
Login credentials are not required with the Fort Collins Utilities authorization form. The utility account holder can search for their account several different ways, such as using a linked phone number, address, or email. Below is what the customer sees when you send a Fort Collins Utilities customer a data request.
3. Collect data
Login to UtilityAPI, and the new account will display on your dashboard. Click on "Get Data" to start the collection and your data will be available shortly.
Once the data collection has finished, click on "See Data" to download your data in the format that fits your needs best. Examples of the data collected can be found below.
