Duration Based Pricing FAQ

Duration Based Pricing is how you are charged for manual collections.

Duration Based Pricing is a pricing model we launched in March 2025 that charges your account per month of data or a flat fee rate based on the number of months of data successfully collected from each meter. To learn more about how you are charged, click here.

The table below shows the costs of collecting data from one (1) meter at different data durations.

What is a data duration?

Data duration refers to the number of months of data you choose to collect from a meter. If your account is enrolled in Duration Based Pricing, you can customize the data duration to fit your needs.

How do I know if I’m enrolled in Duration Based Pricing?

If you select a meter on your dashboard and see the option to set a data duration then your account is enrolled in Duration Based Pricing.

What if I don’t set a data duration?

Your account's default data duration will automatically be set to 12 months. However, you can change it to as short as 1 month or as long as 36 months at any time.

How do I change my default data duration?

You can change your account's default data duration in your dashboard settings or at a meter level by following the steps below.

From your dashboard settings:

  1. Navigate to your account's Data Request Settings in your dashboard.
  2. Under the Data Duration section, you can either enter the months of data you want to collect or use the buttons to set your data duration.

From a meter on your dashboard:

    1. Navigate and click on a meter with a blue “Get Data” button.
    2. Select the dropdown arrow next to “Details”
    3. Adjust the number of months next to “Get data how far back?”
    4. Select “Save as my default setting” and click collapse to save the settings.

What if I want to collect a different data duration for a specific meter than my default setting?

You can override the default data duration setting at the meter level.

  1. Navigate to “Get Data” on a meter
  2. Select the dropdown arrow next to “Details”
  3. Next to “Get data how far back?” adjust the time frame
  4. Select “Collapse”
  5. Select “Get data”

Can I adjust the data duration after I have already collected data?

Yes, once you have already collected data on a meter, set your "Default Collection Duration" in your Data Request Settings to the duration of data that you would like to collect.

  1. Navigate to the meter you would like to adjust the data duration for
  2. Click on "See Data"
  3. Select "Refresh Historical Data"

The refresh will pull in the default collection duration and fill in any gaps from your previous data collection.

What if I don’t receive the full amount of data for the duration that I have selected?

We’ll only ever charge you for the data you get. If we detect gaps in the available data for bill PDFs and interval data for a single month, we’ll credit your account.

In these cases, an account credit will be issued after 7 days. Refunds are not issued.

For each month of data, we define success as all bill PDFs present for each meter for every month you request or 90 percent of interval data. If you need to contact support or have questions about the data you receive, you can submit a ticket here.

Can I still collect more than 12 months of data?

Yes, data can be collected for as little as 1 month or up to 36 months.

How does Duration Based Pricing work for Sub users?

Data duration is set at the individual user level. Each user on an account would need to modify the data duration in their settings to the standard data duration for their company.

If a data duration for an individual user account has not been set, the data duration default will be 12 months of data.

How does Duration Based Pricing work with a Prepaid account package?

All accounts on a Pay As You Go, $50, $250, $1,000, or $3,000 prepaid plan will receive the same per-unit and fixed fee pricing described above for manual data collections. Collections made using our automated ongoing monitoring will be discounted as shown on our pricing page.

Regardless of the collection type, your account's prepaid balance or credit card on file will be charged each time a successful collection or monitoring of a meter is completed You can see your usage and payment history in your dashboard.
